Sisterhood Rosh Chodesh – 6:00pm on Thursday, March 19 at the home of Lynne Arnold. We will be discussing the book Jewish Stories from Heaven and Earth edited by Rabbi Dov Peretz Elkins. Guest Speaker Sister Yliana Hernandez – 7:30pm on Friday, March 27 in the main sanctuary. Sister Yliana entered the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1966. She has a BA from SUNY New Paltz, a MA from Herbert H. Lehman College and a MS from Fordham University. She has taught at many institutions in Peru and New York including the Archdiocese and most recently was the Principal of Nora Cronin Presentation Academy in Newburgh and as a volunteer for the Hudson Valley SPCA.
Movie & Matzah Night – 7:00pm on Saturday, March 28. Join us for a viewing of “Streit’s: Matzo and the American Dream” movie. The history of the Streit's Matzo factory on New York's Lower East Side. Opened in 1925, it sat at the heart of the nation's largest Jewish immigrant community. Today it remains the last family owned matzo factory in America.

Sisterhood Book Club – 12:30pm on Thursday, May 21 at the temple. Discussion of the book “Gittel’s Journey” by Leslea Newman. Gittel and her mother were supposed to immigrate to America together, but when her mother is stopped by the health inspector, Gittel must make the journey alone. Her mother writes her cousin’s address in New York on a piece of paper. However, when Gittel arrives at Ellis Island, she discovers the ink has run and the address is illegible! How will she find her family? The book includes an author’s note explaining how Gittel’s story is based on the journey to America taken by Lesléa Newman’s grandmother and family friend.

TBJ is launching the TBJ 180 Fund to support ongoing Tikkun Olam—Saving the World projects in Newburgh and our wider community. Funds will help ongoing projects—filling food pantries, knitting hats for the homeless, feeding the hungry on Christmas, and new projects to be launched by our TBJ Tikkun Olam—Saving the World Committee.
