Baby Namings

Mazal tov on the birth of your child. The Jewish people celebrates! Our community stands ready to welcome your new addition to your family with a blessing on our bima on a Friday night. We are especially happy to welcome those not part of our community. We think you’ll enjoy the experience and understand how being part of our family enriches your family.

Some details to consider. Boys are usually named at a brit milah. This powerful ceremony goes back to our earliest moments. There are many questions surrounding the ceremony. Call Rabbi Kohn to discuss this and recommendations for a mohel.

Can you you still have a babynaming for your son in the synagogue? Of course! Can’t have too many blessings. Often parents have a second babynaming on a Friday night when the child is around a month old in order to invite friends and family who couldn’t make it to the brit milah ceremony.

Girls are celebrated as well, of course. Most of the time, babynamings for girls are held at the synagogue when the daughter is a month old. Parents and child are called up to the bima for an aliyah and blessing.

There is no cost however it is customary to make a donation to the synagogue so that we can continue to be a resource to future generations.
